Community Beach Clean Up
Time & Location
About the Event
Community Beach Clean Up THIS SATURDAY May 9th The Kenwood Neighborhood Organization is disappointed to have to cancel summer community events at East Cedar Lake Beach including our annual monthly family parties and our Hidden Acoustics Music Series. However, we are still looking to coordinate community volunteering opportunities to help care for the beach and surrounding parkland.
Saturday, May 9 and Saturday May 16 9:00 - 11:00 a.m we welcome community volunteers to do some socially distanced work together raking the beach area cleaning up sticks and winter debris as well as pulling buckthorn from the surrounding shoreline. Please consider wearing a mask, garden gloves and make sure to bring your own rake and shovel. Please do not bring extra rakes, shovels or other garden tools to share.
We hope to have enough volunteers to complete raking the entire beach on Saturday the 9th but if our crew is small it might take both weeks. Either way, several of us will be there both days and if the beach is complete we will focus on removing buckthorn along the shoreline leading down to the beach. *Photo taken from 2019
